Colin Usher and Julia Douglas are a Scottish husband and wife team, who are currently renovating a property in Nérac (47) in South West France, from where they will organise residencies for creative professionals from 2018 onwards.
Studio Faire will offer a change of pace, and the space to create.
AIM & OBJECTIVES
To develop an artistic retreat that provides a year-round residency programme for creative professionals, offering a change of pace and the space to create.
Our six main objectives:
To support the development of ideas and the production of new work, by offering comfortable, self-catering, accommodation and suitably equipped workshop and study space for experimentation, development and creativity.
To offer a relaxed and beautiful meeting place for national and international working partnerships to develop.
To create a social atmosphere which encourages interdisciplinary feedback or collaboration between contemporary artists, designers, performers, writers, musicians, dancers, actors and other creative professionals.
To host events including workshops, talks and presentations by invited specialists, so residents and other visitors to Studio Faire can gain knowledge from other’s expertise.
To support and contribute to Nérac and the surrounding region’s cultural calendar, in order to increase its current creative offerings and support the local economy, and, in so doing, help in improving quality of life for our neighbours.
To obtain funding from foundations, trusts and individuals and to continue to develop partnerships with other funding bodies, organisations and societies who can offer fees and cover other costs to selected visitors.
