Questions about the day courses and residencies here at Studio Faire with Colin Usher
Do I need to bring my own camera?
Colin is more than happy for you to use his gear also while you are here but it would be much better if you were able to use your own camera in order to get to know it as well as you can in the time we have together at Studio Faire and around Nérac.
Will I process my photos on the course?
We use Adobe Lightroom for image management, processing and delivery or the end files. Colin will take you through the processes and you will leave with a series of your own photographs ready to use wherever you like.
Will we spend time out and about?
Each course is tailored to you and what you’d like to learn and practice on the day or during the residency.
If you wish to spend time, weather permitting, out and about in Nérac as well as the gardens here at Studio Faire, we can work on taking/making photos on location.
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to work on studio techniques or staying indoors to utilise the natural light available to us, then you can choose do this too.
Can we focus on creating images for social media?
Shooting products may be your focus. Places, moods and food also… We can spend time setting up basic and quick shooting scenarios to help you get the best out of your stills on social media.
Are there studio flash lights that we can learn how to use?
Our studio is equipped with Bowens studio strobe flash units, backdrops and a series of light shaping diffusers that provide great results.
Colin will guide you through the technical set up as well as teach you some great hints & tips for taking portraits that are full of life and expression.
What is the maximum class size?
The maximum class size is 5 students. The minimum class size is one to one.
Please feel free to bring a friend, son, daughter, husband or wife with you to be the model.
What about language?
This course is for adults and will be taught in English, however, French students who wish to improve their spoken English are encouraged to attend and, for these students, a mixture of French and English will be spoken.
